BREAKING: Turkish international free agent Yusuf Yazici has joined Leicester City on a free transfer.
Leicester City are the latest club to be named in the hunt for Turkish international free agent Yusuf Yazici, but strengthening of the squad before January seems unlikely.
City have been named alongside Bournemouth and Everton by Jeunes Footeux as suitors for the 27-year-old forward, who scored 12 goals for Lille last term. Southampton and Lazio have also been listed among the clubs to be keeping an eye on him, with reports that Aston Villa, Manchester United, and Tottenham have all been offered the chance to sign him.
Where City might like Yazici is that he can play on either wing, behind the striker, or up front, and that fits with Steve Cooper’s preference for versatility in forward areas. But it’s understood there are no plans to add to Cooper’s ranks before January, even if there is a space in the 25-man squad to be able to do so.
City brought in Bilal El Khannouss and Odsonne Edouard in the final two days of the transfer window and they now have a fair amount of options in attack. It means, across their front four, City have 11 players to choose from, with Abdul Fatawu, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Jordan Ayew, Stephy Mavididi, Kasey McAteer, Facundo Buonanotte, Will Alves, Jamie Vardy, and Patson Daka also in the squad alongside El Khannouss and Edouard.
The focus for City is to get those attacking players firing. They’ve scored once in each of their Premier League fixtures so far, but the data shows only Ipswich have a lower expected goals total at the moment.
