Cruzeiro coach Nicolas Larcamon insists that there is nothing ‘finalised’ regarding a potential deal for £2 million Rangers midfielder Jose Cifuentes despite rumours of a potentially imminent Ibrox exit.

The Scottish transfer market ended last week, with Rangers completing a deal for Oscar Cortes before 11 p.m.,

but Philippe Clement’s team will still be subject to more changes.

Galatasaray is interested in Ridvan Yilmaz and has until February 9th to reach an agreement worth a reputed £4 million.

Clubs in Brazil have a little longer, with Cruzeiro’s deadline not until early March.

Rangers star set Ibrox exit date as red tape leaves him with foreign waiting game and gruelling journey

Cruzeiro does not suffer the same constraints as Galatasaray,

but that has not stopped the Brazilian club from moving fast and firmly in pursuit of a player who has not lived up to expectations since joining Rangers in the summer of 2023.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Cifuentes has verbally agreed to join Cruzeiro on an initial loan basis,

with the Ecuadorian preferring the comforts of South America to Caykur Rizespor of the Turkish Super League.

The Foxes’ newly appointed head coach,

Nicolas Larcamon, was careful not to get carried away when Cifuentes’ name was unavoidably mentioned in the aftermath of Romano’s Sunday report.

“I’m not counting on (Cifuentes joining), because nothing has been finalised yet,

” said Larcamon to Ole. “I understand there is some information involved.

“But, today, I only have the players who take to the field (and are currently part of my squad).”

Cifuentes, who is worth £2 million, has appeared in 20 Rangers games across all competitions.

Despite entering with a reputation as a goalscoring midfielder – he scored at an amazing rate with Los Angeles FC – Cifuentes seemed likely to leave Rangers without scoring a single goal.

Cifuentes has not played in the Scottish Premiership since receiving a red card in December’s 3-1 victory against Dundee.

The signing of Mohamed Diomande from Nordsjaelland in Denmark moves him lower down Philippe Clement’s pecking order.

“I’m not sure (whether he’ll stay or go).

When asked about Cifuentes’ future,

Clement responded last week, “There is interest.”

“Cifu is also interested in moving away from Ibrox.” But there is no agreement yet,

so we’ll see. He has a great attitude, and we know we can count on him even if he doesn’t take this step.
