Tottenham and Porto have reached an agreement on a striker trade.
Even though Tottenham Hotspur acquired Dominic Solanke this summer,
the team is still searching for other offensive reinforcements, and they are now keeping an eye on one striker in particular in the Portuguese league.
A young Spanish person in Portugal on fire
For Spurs, the £65 million deal to bring Solanke to North London was literally a huge deal.
His arrival has filled a need that has existed since Harry Kane’s departure in 2023.
However, given Richarlison‘s ongoing medical issues, there is a notion that Ange Postecoglou would require an additional striker to bolster his lineup.
It is unclear when that will happen—January or summer of 2019—but the most recent information on the matter comes from Football Insider sources, who state the Lilywhites have already dispatched scouts to see Samu Omorodion.
And what a fool it was to decide to watch him as well.
In the Europa League midweek match against Manchester United, the Spain Under-21 international was on fire,
tallying two goals to help Porto win a 3-3 draw.
It is said that Chelsea representatives joined Spurs scouts to observe the 20-year-old on Thursday at the Estádio do Dragão.
Omorodion was on the verge of joining Chelsea.
Odd circumstances led Omorodion to relocate to Porto in the summer.
The summer transfer of Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid included the teenage forward on the verge of joining Chelsea.
Gallagher was forced to return to Chelsea until a different arrangement could be reached, though, as Omorodion‘s portion of the agreement fell through. Ultimately, Chelsea acquired Joao Felix, and Gallagher’s trade was completed.
Omorodion will now be worth significantly more to Porto than the £13 million that Porto supposedly spent for him.
It is noteworthy that the agreement still includes a 50% sell-on clause for Atletico.
