Theo Hernandez has reportedly committed to AC Milan, making him the club’s highest-paid player.

Theo Hernandez apparently wants to stay with Milan past 2026 at a salary of €8 million annually,

but the Rossoneri are unwilling to pay so much because they are dissatisfied with the player’s play and attitude this year.

Theo Hernandez and Milan are not reaching a deal.

The France international is asking for at least €8 million a season in pay,

which is nearly twice as much as his current €4.5 million compensation.

His contract ends in June 2026.

According to Gazzetta, Milan and the player’s entourage began talking over the summer, but the parties have not yet come to a consensus.

The initial wage request was reportedly for more than €8.5 million.

Gazzetta also points out that Theo’s demands seem to indicate that the French international wants to depart or that he is not in a rush to come to a decision.

Theo declined to rule out leaving Milan in the summer transfer window during the Euros.

Reasons for the impasse in Milan’s contract negotiations with Theo

Theo is demanding to become the team’s highest earner, surpassing Rafael Leao’s present salary of €7 million annually,

but Milan is unwilling to comply.

Negotiations are not made any easier by Theo’s recent on-field antics or attitude.

He disregarded the hierarchy of penalties this past Sunday against Fiorentina and accepted a spot-kick in place of Christian Pulisic, costing his team a chance to score and upsetting coach Paulo Fonseca.

In addition, he was dismissed for disobedience after the final whistle,

which resulted in a two-match suspension in Serie A and a fine from his team.

According to Gazzetta, Milan is holding out for better results on the field since Theo needs to prove he deserves a new deal.
