From 2023–2024, Premier Sports will have the exclusive right to

broadcast 20 Scottish Premiership games a season. However,

Celtic has chosen not to participate in the arrangement,

therefore the match between the top two teams will not be shown.
Celtic’s decision to withdraw from the SPFL’s agreement with

Premier Sports means that the match against Aberdeen this coming weekend will not be televised.

Fans at home are excited to see the action as the table-toppers square off

at Parkhead on Saturday at 3 p.m., but there will be no lights for the spectators.

Additionally, the Hoops made the decision to decline the new contract,

which gives Premier Sports the rights to 20 Scottish Premiership games annually.
According to Football Scotland, Sky Sports will continue to be the major broadcaster of the Scottish Premier League and will have the rights to broadcast up to 60 games until 2029, giving supporters access to 80 televised games a season.

Sky is limited to covering five Premiership stadiums every season; the additional two home games from any stadium can be seen in the supplementary package with Premier Sports, which is a subscription service.

The Daily Mail claims that Celtic, who are being promised £75,000 for every extra home game, have rejected the Premier Sports contract.

The Parkhead club may not want to bother season ticket holders or home supporters by rescheduling 3pm kickoffs to later times. For example, Rangers’ Sunday 8pm game at Ibrox against St Johnstone was previously rescheduled to accommodate the Great Scottish Run.

Since this is the first meeting of the season between the two unbeaten teams, there has been a lot of clamor for the top-tier game between Celtic and Aberdeen on October 19 to be broadcast on television.

With just three more slots remaining for the 2024–2025 season, it is expected that these will be held for derby matches and important games later in the campaign. Sky has already aired two games from the champions’ home field this season.
