Brendan Rodgers lands next Everton manager ‘link’ as Celtic boss handed Premier League advice
A former Premier League star has said there are links to Everton for Brendan Rodgers – but his advice is for the Celtic manager to stay put for European business.
Sean Dyche is under pressure at Goodison Park. After narrowly surviving in the Premier League last campaign, his side are 16th with one win from seven games. That has ramped up speculation that the ex-Burnley boss could be axed.
Former Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson says Rodgers is ‘linked’ to becoming Everton manager. Previously boss at clubs like
Leicester City and Liverpool, the ex-England international says the Champions League is a place where Rodgers wants to achieve success at Celtic rather than jump at an English top table return.
He told Football Insider: “Brendan Rodgers is always going to be linked
o jobs back in the Premier League. Because of what he’s done
there before in the past and what he’s achieved with Celtic already you know in his second time.
“The Dortmund game might just be a little bit of an eye-opener after the really good opening day win, but I think he will, yeah, I think that’s what he’ll be judged on. That’s progression, the games against Rangers.
“Yes, you’re always going to be judged on those, but I think for actual
progression they are going to judge them in the Champions League.”
