View: 1/10 man in Ibrox horror show, 8/10 ace fantastic – Rangers player ratings v Aberdeen

After beating Aberdeen 2-1, Rangers is now tied with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings.

Tuesday, February 6th, saw the match held at Ibrox. The hosts, led by Rabbi Matondo and Todd Cantwell, scored two goals, while the Dons were netted by Bojan Miovski.

With the Bhoys leading only on goal differential, the Gers and their bitter rivals now both have 58 points after the close win.

Here, Ibrox News assigns a performance rating of 10 to the Rangers players.

Jack Butland- 5

When Miovski got close to his goal and scored the equalizer, the Gers number one hesitated a little bit, and Butland was probably not impressed with his performance. After that, he didn’t have a lot of saves to make.

James Tavernier- 6

The Rangers captain experienced an atypically quiet evening as he was unable to play as much forward as he would have liked and had to perform a great deal of defending.

Connor Goldson- 5

Similar to Butland, the central defender was let down by his efforts in Aberdeen’s goal, as Miovski tied the score after Goldson was outmuscled in terms of strength and speed.

John Souttar – 7

Stepping in for the injured Leon Balogun, Souttar did a fantastic job, winning multiple battles against the extremely dangerous Miovski.

Ridvan Yilmaz – 6

The left-back who was linked to an exit made an excellent substitution for Ridvan Yilmaz, benefiting his team both offensively and defensively.

Lawrence is excellent for the Rangers.

8 points to Tom Lawrence (Man of the Match)

Regretfully, injuries have kept Lawrence out of the lineup for Rangers fans, but they had a chance to see just how good he is against the Dons, where the midfielder put on an excellent showing all around. Although he did not score, Cantwell’s long-range effort in the second half secured a crucial three points for the home team.

John Lundstram – 6

The enforcer in midfield put on another strong performance for Clement, keeping the game moving and assisting in preventing any Aberdeen breaks.

Rabbi Matondo – 7

Although his brief second half was very quiet, the winger was a real threat from the first whistle, showing superb reactions to be the first to parry Ross McCausland’s shot and fire home the opener.

Todd Cantwell – 7

At Ibrox, Cantwell was once again the creative spark, and similar to Matondo, he was the first to respond when Lawrence made a long-range effort to put the hosts ahead.

Ross McCausland – 5

The winger attacked with speed and directness as usual, but even though his meek effort set up Matondo’s goal, his final product let him down.

Dessers Ibrox struggles

Cyriel Dessers – 4

The summer transfer has been scoring goals lately, but against the Dons, he had a terrible game, which was summed up by Clement’s decision to take him off before the hour.

At 57′, Fabio Silva (on for Dessers, 57′) – 6

The Wolves loanee consistently poses a serious threat to the visiting defense as his Ibrox career really takes off, and the substitute turned in a noteworthy performance off the bench.

Dujon Sterling (on for Lawrence, 75′) – 1

After entering the Ibrox pitch to help the home team finish with a significant victory, Sterling was sent off with a straight red card just 13 minutes later for an irresponsible tackle on Jack MacKenzie. Even if the player claims to have slipped, he was still not required to try the challenge.
