Scotland’s team suffered a double injury blow when Clarke called up an uncapped pair and a Celtic player was among the withdrawals.

Steve Clarke has suffered a further setback with two more team withdrawals,

therefore he has called up two more uncapped players for the forthcoming Nations League double header.

Scotland’s Nations League A campaign is scheduled to start on Saturday in Zagreb against Croatia.

Then, on Tuesday, they will host a massive match at Hampden Park against Portugal in an attempt to snap a 13-game losing streak.

Due to injuries sustained last week, both Celtic left-back Greg Taylor

and starting goalkeeper Angus Gunn will be out from the matches,

so Clarke will have to make do without two of his initial call-ups.

They are replaced by in-form Aberdeen full-back Jack MacKenzie,

who will join fellow Dons defender Nicky Devlin—who has enjoyed a fantastic start to the season at Pittodrie—as the fourth uncapped player to receive his first call-up to the senior squad.

MacKenzie, who takes over for Taylor directly, will face off against Andy Robertson for a left-back spot.

Robby McCrorie, the goalie for Kilmarnock, who was injured and missed the last squad,

is the second addition to Clarke’s team. The ex-Rangers stopper has been a regular in the senior set-up,

but is yet to gain his first cap, despite being part of multiple Scotland squads since he was initially included by Clarke in September 2020.

Six players could debut for their country thanks to the two call-ups;

MacKenzie and McCrorie join Liam Lindsay, Jon McCracken, Andy Irving, and Devlin as the remaining uncapped players.

Although the addition of a few fresh faces gives up-and-coming players a chance to earn a spot on the team,

Clarke will be upset that he still lacks a few key players.

Kieran Tierney (hamstring), Scott McKenna (hamstring),

Nathan Patterson (muscle), Lewis Ferguson (ACL), Jack Hendry (knee), John McGinn (hamstring),

and Tommy Conway are the other five players out for the Scotland head coach’s Nations League matches.
