Pundit makes harsh Ange Postecoglou claim after Brighton defeat

Ange Postecoglou was appointed the Tottenham manager last summer and made an immediate impact at the club.

He signed the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and

Micky van de Ven who helped the club make their best

start to a Premier League season with 8 wins and 2 draws.

His impact was seen on the pitch as well as off the pitch,

with the overall atmosphere around the club turning into a positive one.

The season got derailed due to a major injury crisis, with Tottenham ending

up finishing 5th, and qualifying for the Europa League.

Many expected the second season to be much better, however, their start has not been as good.

Despite playing some incredible attacking football, they have only managed to win 3 games, while losing another 3 and drawing one.

Their latest defeat came against Brighton as the Seagulls scored 3 in 18 minutes in the second half to complete a stunning comeback after going down by two goals in the first half.

Pundit Craig Burley, while speaking on ESPN, has now criticised Ange. He praised him for how good he has Spurs playing but emphasised that all of it will go to waste if he can’t turn the performances into results.

He said:

“I think Postecoglou’s style in England has yet to prove that it can survive the long game, and by that I mean the eternity of a season.

“Yes, they’ll play great football. Yeah, they’ll have their moments, but he has to prove that this style can survive a 38-game season and shore up defensively.

“He’s a great coach at coaching his side to play this great attacking football, but unfortunately, his defenders would be redundant if it was just about attacking football.
