Daniel Farke files a free transfer claim for Leeds United, and Neil Harris provides an update on Millwall’s injuries.
Both Millwall and QPR are travelling to the Midlands in an attempt to recover
from losses they suffered over the week. The Lions play the quick-starting West Brom,
while the Hoops travel to play Derby County.
Millwall suffered a setback at the hands of Cardiff City this week,
while QPR remain winless for the year following their defeat to Hull City.
We have compiled all of the most recent information about the Championship
clubs as both teams attempt to make up for their mistakes from midweek.
Harris on Millwall injuries
Neil Harris, the manager of Millwall, has been discussing the injury situation at
The Den as his team gets ready to travel to West Brom. According to Harris,
“We’re hoping that Adam Mayor will be the closest,” the South London Press reported.
I’m not sure if he’ll be back for Derby, Plymouth, and Stoke’s opening week,
but he won’t be far behind. Because of how much time Billy and Adam had missed,
we had to reassess our relationship. Since the conclusion of the previous season,
none of them have appeared. It’s not realistic to believe that we’ll have them back for
the three-game week after the international break given the
length of time needed to get them up to speed.
Adam will be first and then we’re looking at a spate of lads coming back,
with Tom, Josh, Shuan and Billy, they shouldn’t be too far behind,
particularly with the few weeks during the international break.”
Warne on QPR
Derby County boss Paul Warne has warned his side over the ‘different threat’
the Hoops pose ahead of this weekend’s meeting at Pride Park.
According to the Derby Telegraph, the Rams’ manager stated, “They have a different threat
to other teams in the league.” They excel at pressuring and reacting quickly after losing the ball.
We therefore need to be ready for the possibility that, should they lose it,
they will pursue you immediately.
“If we can break the press, that’s how we will try and play, as you do with all teams.
They have had, similar to us, some games where they’ve played really well and were fortunate
not to take more points. It’s going to be another tough game, and everybody knows about
our good home record. So that will increase their intensity, possibly coming in.”
In response to requests that Leeds United sign one or more free agents as injuries start to
pile up at Elland Road, manager Daniel Farke of Leeds United has answered.
Since it implies they haven’t participated in team practise since May, “to be really honest,
I’m not a big fan of signing players who are out of contract at the beginning of October,
the player stated. This indicates that they haven’t participated in team training in, like, five months.
“Even after you bring them in, it takes some time for them to be truly fit, ready to play,
and ready to play football with the first team. Usually, the player who is currently out
for a few weeks will be back and ready to play sooner than the players who have been out
for five months. It’s frequently more like a panic purchase, in my opinion, or like trying to act
as like you’re doing something. I believe it’s professional to inquire, and occasionally
due to chance or unique circumstances, there may be someone out there that truly
meets the demands at hand.
