Latest update: Sean Dyche reveals that Everton star set to return from ‘unusual’ injury blow, ready for Everton vs. Newcastle United clash
Since April, Nathan Patterson has not appeared on the Everton field.
Everton’s careful approach to Nathan Patterson as he continues his recuperation from
a “unusual” long-term injury has been addressed by Sean Dyche.
For six months, the right-back has not appeared in a first-team match. In April of last year,
he tore his hamstring in a 6-0 loss to Chelsea. After having to undergo surgery,
Patterson missed Scotland’s participation at the European Championships and has since been recovering.
Nevertheless, there remains hope for the former Rangers player.
He has made two appearances for the Everton under-21 team,
playing for about an hour in each contest. However, considering the seriousness
and complexity of his injury, Patterson’s inclusion in the Toffees matchday roster
for their Premier League match against Newcastle United is uncertain.
“Patto’s was a different kind of injury,” stated Dyche.
It required tendon surgery since the tendon injury was unusually severe.
It therefore requires more time. returning to actual physical and mental acuity
after a six-month absence of considerable length.
On a gaming program, he is. He had not completed as much of the training for support.
He may play a little bit faster than Jarrad, but his performance wasn’t as good as
my hours in sports science. We decided on Jarrad
(Branthwaite, who made his comeback in the 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace last week),
and Patto is aware that he still needs to find full health and sharpness.
There is more to it; the damage is different, and the recuperation is handled differently as well.
In January 2022, Patterson left Rangers to join Everton for a reported £12 million.
Due to a number of injury concerns, his Goodison career has been faltering.
He has also fallen out of favor when he is available.
Sections of supporters want to see the 22-year-old given a continuous run in the
starting line-up to demonstrate his talent. Although Dyche acknowledges that
Patterson joined the Blues with the intention of playing regularly in the Premier League,
he must first catch up before getting the opportunity.
“It’s about him getting fit and his form right to go and play,” the Goodison chief continued.
The first step is to bring him to that level of fitness. Because of his extended layoff,
there is a push-and-pull situation whereby he must achieve real Premier League
fitness while still exercising caution due to the severity of his injury.
“When he’s there, we look at him pushing forward and making it his own when he
plays and develops into an Everton player who will eventually succeed in the Premier League.
” That is undoubtedly the reason he arrived here. There are some excellent and highly skilled
players for him. Not everything about it is click-your-fingers and work.
Although there is some work to be done, getting him back to full health is the most important
thing to do because he has had a difficult time dealing with this ailment.
