The referee for Saturday night’s match between Newcastle United and Everton has been selected by the Premier League. When Anthony Gordon returns to Goodison Park, all eyes will be on him. On his previous visit, Gordon was made fun of by Everton supporters as the Magpies lost 3-0 in a humiliating fashion.

Newcastle United will hopefully play much better on Saturday, and it looks like Gordon will play up front with Alexander Isak’s injury absence set to continue.

It will be a tough game for Eddie Howe, whose side have won three of their opening six Premier League fixtures. One of those was the 1-0 triumph over Southampton, which is best remembered for Fabian Schar‘s red card.

Refereeing Everton vs. Newcastle United will be Craig Pawson.

That day’s referee was Craig Pawson, who will oversee Newcastle United once more this weekend. Pawson is scheduled to officiate Everton vs. Newcastle at Goodison Park on Saturday, according to confirmation from the Premier League. Pawson officiates the Magpies for the second time this season, and his previous Toon match was undoubtedly unpopular. Fabian Schar was dismissed by Pawson earlier in the season.

Newcastle United’s first-ever game of the season ended with them down to 10 men after 28 minutes. Following an altercation with Southampton forward Ben Brereton Diaz, Fabian Schar was sent off. The Saints player had shoved Schar in the back.

There was a head-to-head moment, which resulted in Brereton Diaz hurling himself to the ground. Brereton Diaz was called ‘pathetic’ by Alan Shearer, while Russell Martin said it was a ‘moment of madness’ from Schar.

The outcome was a red card for Schar, with Pawson falling for Brereton Diaz’s theatrics. At the time, Mike Dean said the Schar red card was soft, but it resulted in a three-match suspension for the 32-year-old.

Following that decision, Schar will have to be extra careful on Saturday night against Everton.

The £3million defender is certain to start for the Magpies, with Schar proving against Wimbledon why he is so pivotal to Newcastle United right now due to his elite passing range.
