Abdallah Sima, a 23-year-old striker on loan from Brighton, scored twice in Brest’s 4-0 away win over Salzburg in the Champions League.

Despite finishing third in the French top tier last season, Brest was considered one of the underdogs in the newly revamped format.

Sima joined Brighton from Slavia Prague in 2021 for roughly £7 million, and he has previously been loaned to Stoke, Angers, Rangers, and

Brest.

Despite suffering a long-term hamstring ailment, the Senegal international scored 16 goals for Rangers last season. He has not played

competitively for Brighton, however he did appear for the Seagulls on their pre-season tour of Japan, soon before his loan to Brest.

Brest will also face Leverkusen, Sparta Prague, Barcelona, PSV, Shakhtar, and Real Madrid in the enlarged league phase of Europe’s
