Recently, Everton in the Community celebrated previous and current participants in its 12-week

“Safe and Steady” Falls Prevention program with an awareness event held at its L4 Campus.

Along with attendees, Club Ambassador Ian Snodin and Cllr Christine Bannon,

the Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, enjoyed a memorable afternoon of live music,

afternoon tea, and holistic therapy sessions. They also heard motivational success stories from program participants.

A series of low-intensity physical exercise sessions are provided by EitC’s Safe and Steady Falls Prevention program, which is funded by Knowsley Council,

to older individuals in Knowsley who have fallen or are at risk of falling.

Along with these benefits, the program offers members a customized support package that includes pre- and post-activity evaluations,

access to the charity’s on-staff GP and dietician, a functional fitness evaluation,

and referrals to over sixty EitC programs.

John, a participant in Safe and Steady, reflected on the positive effects the program has had on his health since enrolling.

He said: “The program has made such a difference to my life,

from improving my balance to reducing my back pain and increasing my mobility.”

“After engaging in several health programs and experiencing a traumatic cerebral hemorrhage more than 20 years ago,

I can now walk more comfortably, elevate my feet, and use muscles that I haven’t used properly in years.”

“I am happy to spend the afternoon hearing about the

impact participating in the Safe and Steady Falls Prevention program has had on our residents,” said Cllr Christine Bannon,

the Knowsley Council Cabinet Member for Health.

“This program is by Everton in the Community to assist

our people in maintaining their independence and to lessen the number of visits to the neighborhood A&E
It was wonderful to learn that the program had given participants the self-assurance to live longer and lead better lives in their own homes.

After completing EitC’s Safe and Steady Falls Prevention program,

100% of participants demonstrated functional improvements in their baseline evaluations,

demonstrating the program’s considerable influence on physical wellness.
