JUST IN: Tottenham star joins Manchester United if given the opportunity, according to a former manager.

Tim Sherwood believes Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven would have jumped at the opportunity to play for Manchester United.

Tottenham have completely turned things around with some exceptional performances in recent weeks.

The North London club have won each of their last four outings across competitions.

Not many expected them to come out on top against Manchester United but Ange Postecoglou’s men managed to dominate the proceedings and ended up winning 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Micky van de Ven was outstanding on the night and he has received a lot of plaudits for his work.

Former Tottenham star Tim Sherwood talked quite highly about the Dutch centre-back and he even suggested that Manchester United fans would be wondering why Erik ten Hag didn’t push for his services having signed so many Dutch players since taking charge.

While speaking on Premier League productions, the Blackburn legend said via TBR: “Tottenham have a clear identity out of possession and in possession.

“Micky van de Ven picks the ball up, it’s a wide open space and look at the pace and power of this kid.

Then the ability to find Brennan Johnson with a cross at the far post.

“I imagine Manchester United supporters are thinking, ‘Well,

our manager has brought in a lot of Dutch players.'” There’s probably one who plays for Tottenham and is really, really good.

Though he would have leaped at the chance to play for Man United,

he was unable to take advantage of the opportunity as he was surpassed by de Ligt. He’s a thoroughbred, this boy.

As far as I’m aware, Michael Owen trains racehorses, and he wants to keep this one in the stable. Observe the boy’s speed, strength, and aptitude.”

He emphasized how skilled the Spurs are both with and without the ball.

More significantly, they have added players who will aid Postecoglou in better executing his football philosophy.

The Red Devils cannot be considered to have spent as much money on player transfers as Manchester United has.

Given that their manager has recruited so many Dutch players in previous transfer windows,

Manchester United supporters would be staring at Van van Ven and asking why he didn’t pursue such an exciting potential.
