DONE DEAL: Brendan Rodgers signs new Celtic contract as ex-Premier League star spots way for boss to make ‘history’

Regarding the Celtic manager, a former Premier League star has made statements.
Brendan Rodgers has the potential to make history this season,

according to a former Premier League player who believes he is headed for a new deal with Celtic.

The Irishman’s stock has returned to the highs he experienced in his first reign,

amid a 100% record at the start of this season,

including a 5-1 thrashing of Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League.

On Tuesday, Celtic will make their competitive debut away to Borussia Dortmund.

Paul Robinson, a former goalkeeper for Burnley, Blackburn,

Tottenham, and Leeds, believes Rodgers might sign a new deal with Celtic.

In the face of Rangers’ waning domestic challenge,

he thinks Rodgers will set his sights on making history in Europe before preparing for the long haul.

“You’re always going to get linked when you’re a manager who’s successful and doing well,” Robinson said to Football Insider.

The stature and history of a football club like Celtic is sufficient to retain a manager on staff.

“Brendan Rodgers has visited the Premier League,”

After managing Liverpool and Leicester, as well as returning to Celtic, Brendan Rodgers is a seasoned Premier League manager.

“The Champions League is a significant pull for him at Celtic;

they had an incredible result, and their main goal is to get past the group stage. They have a wonderful possibility with this new structure,

although Leipzig at home will be difficult, based on their home draws.

“I compare finishing in the top eight to staying in the Premier League, where we always talk about needing ’40 points’ a year to stay in.”

The last time you truly required 40 points, I can’t remember; the current trend indicates that you’ll only need 28 or 30 points this year.

What I’m comparing it to, therefore, is that we don’t know how many points is required for this top eight—or top 16, if you prefer—in the Champions League.

In light of Celtic’s home games,

I believe that their Champions League draw is, in all honesty, simpler than Rangers’ Europa League draw.

“Returning to Brendan Rodgers, he has a chance to create history there this season.

Not only in the league, but also, given the current state of affairs, Rangers appear to be, for lack of a better word, fading away.

Although it appears that Celtic and Rangers are closing the gap domestically,

Brendan Rodgers is truly focused on winning the Champions League this season.

In the meanwhile, I don’t see any reason why Brendan Rodgers should be connected away this season,

and if he has a good campaign, we might see him extend his contract at the end of the campaign.
