Revealed: Newcastle line up free agent swoop for red-hot striker

Insiders have revealed that Newcastle United owns

enormous respect for Jonathan David, the attacker for Lille.

The 24-year-old is drawing a lot of interest from the Premier League

and other leagues because of his excellent play for the Ligue 1 team this season.

David can sign a pre-contract with English clubs in January.

and he will be free to join with any team come July.

Due to injuries to Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson,

Eddie Howe’s hitting options are currently limited.

On Monday, September 30, Football Insider disclosed that before allowing Wilson

to depart in January, Newcastle will attempt to sign a replacement for Wilson.

Both Brentford and Fulham are interested in making a move for the 33-year-old.

Newcastle set sights on David deal in January

David has made 11 appearances for Lille this season.

scoring seven goals and dishing out two assists.

Earlier this month, the attacker helped Canada defeat the United States 2-1

with a goal and an assist.

Since moving to Lille from Gent in 2020, he has scored 91 goals in 194 games

for the French team. With 25 goals in 40 games, Sweden international Isak led Newcastle

in scoring the previous season.

With just one loss throughout the 2024–25 season, the Magpies are now

ranked sixth in the Premier League standings.
