Former Everton attacker Arnaut Danjuma’s comments about a possible move to Liverpool will not make him popular at Goodison Park.

Speaking with De Voetbalkantine, the former Toffees loanee refused to rule out a future move to the red half of Merseyside, despite recently joining La Liga side Girona on loan from Villarreal.

Danjuma returned to Goodison Park on loan in July 2023, six months after his first move went through, but his flattering remarks about their rivals will put any Blues fan off.

According to FC Update (September 27), Danjuma stated, “I come from Everton, right? As a player, you must be ambitious, and any offer from a big club should always be considered. “I think there will be few people at the table who will say no to Liverpool.”

Everton fans were glad to see the back of Arnaut Danjuma

It’s not usually the case that players live up to the pomp and billing they receive when they join a new club, but few have fallen short like Danjuma did at Goodison Park.

After pursuing the Dutch international forward for more than six months and witnessing an initial deal hijacked by Tottenham in January 2023, much was expected when Danjuma joined the following summer.

However, the 27-year-old had a smaller effect than many Toffees fans expected, starting only nine matches across all competitions, including five in the Premier League.

In a tumultuous season both on and off the field for Sean Dyche’s side, injuries struck hard, with Danjuma never able to establish a continuous run of playing time and only scoring twice.

Neither the Toffees nor Danjuma will remember his loan time fondly, and if he ever returns to Merseyside in the colours of their opponents, he will not be greeted warmly by Everton fans.

In other Everton news, Ashley Young appeared in the Sky Sports studio to comment on a contentious Premier League moment.
