WOLVES SUMMER SIGNING IN PROGRESS! Carlos Forbs plan now hinted at as Gary O’Neil shares conversations with…

Wolves welcomed three new signings on transfer deadline day of the summer window, with Carlos Forbs being the last to arrive.

It was a dramatic deadline day at Compton Park, as Gary O’Neil and Matt Hobbs welcomed Sam Johnstone, Andre and Forbs to the squad.

Each capture bolstered the manager’s low-stocked side, with Johnstone and Andre already announcing themselves as first team regulars at Wolves.

For 20-year-old Forbs, the start to life back in England has been slightly slow, as the Manchester City academy graduate waits for his chance to really impress.

Gary O’Neil reveals conversations with summer signing Carlos Forbs

Arriving from Ajax on a season-long loan with the option to buy, Forbs returned to the English game after embarking on his Eredivisie challenge.

Before making the move to Amsterdam, the winger was thriving with Manchester City’s U21 side, where he contributed to a mammoth 39 goals in 38 appearances in 2022/23.

Now at Wolves, O’Neil has a stellar talent at his disposal, with Forbs taking the long route to the favoured XI, having only secured two appearances so far.

“Left-wing is probably his best position and speaking to him it’s probably his favourite position,” O’Neil explained to the media.

“He can play off the right too, of course. I prefer playing wingers on the opposite side, but Carlos is good going down the outside on his left foot.”

Fans saw a glimpse of what Forbs can offer Wolves during his Carabao Cup cameo against Brighton, with the manager hinting that a plan is in place to get the best out of the loanee.

O’Neil has a plan for Forbs at Wolves

Wolves will be obligated to purchase Forbs if the winger records 10 starts for the Old Gold during his loan spell.

At present, this looks unlikely however, the boss suggested one environment that he may test the 20-year-old in, which could pave the way to him announcing himself at Molineux.

“He may be one that we use more on that side than the other, but a lot of it will depend on the rest of the team and maybe the opposition as well and who he’s up against.

“The pace he has will be tough for people that don’t carry that pace.

“If we come up against a team where one of the full-backs is slightly slower than the other, we might put him on that side to try and get the best out of him week to week.”

The opportunity is set to be there for Forbs to show O’Neil what he’s made of, with the winger certainly having qualities that could excite many in Old Gold.
