Celtic in Pole Position to Sign Star as club Send Scout to Watch the £8m-rated Winger
Celtic have recently sent chief scout Jay Lefevre to watch Hammarby’s talented young winger,
Bazoumana Toure, according to a report.
Swedish outlet fotbolldirekt.se initially noted the Hoops’ interest in the player last month.
Now, they report Lefevre has watched Toure on-site in Sweden and has been impressed with what he has seen.
Although Crystal Palace, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen, and Benfica are said to like the look of the player,
Celtic are ‘strongly interested’ in his services.
Toure, 18, only joined Hammarby in March of this year, completing a move from his homeland, Ivory Coast.
Since making the switch to Europe, the teenager has thrived,
scoring six goals and assisting three in 16 appearances in Sweden’s top flight.
Toure is a left-footed wide-man who predominantly operates on the left-hand side,
although he is capable of doing so on the right.
The attacker is contracted with his club until 2028, and if Celtic want to sign him,
fotbolldirekt.se reports that it is ‘absolutely necessary’ they meet Hammarby’s asking price of 10 million euros,
which roughly translates to £8.3m.
In the summer gone by, the Scottish Premiership champions weren’t shy of shelling out some big fees.
Adam Idah joined for an initial £8.5m, while Arne Engels signed on deadline day for a record-breaking £11m.
Particularly after Luis Palma’s disappointing display against Falkirk on Sunday,
the wings look like a key area in the Celtic team which need addressed in January.
Toure is an option the club appear to be considering.
