Brentford and Fulham are reportedly interested in acquiring Callum Wilson, a Newcastle United striker.
Wilson has 48 goals in 108 competitive games since joining Newcastle from Bournemouth in September 2020.

However, it is unclear how long Wilson will stay at St. James’ Park, as his contract is slated to expire at the conclusion of the season. The 32-year-old attacker struggled with injuries last season and has yet to play this season due to a back issue.

Brentford and Fulham are after Wilson.
With Wilson out with an injury, Newcastle may be open to offers in January, especially since it marks one last chance to bring in a fee before his contract ends next summer.

From the player’s standpoint, he is expected to battle for a starting spot when fit due to Alexander Isak’s prominent position in the squad, hence he may be open to joining a club that can provide him with consistent game time. According to The Sun, Fulham and Brentford are both interested in the former England international.

According to the source, Fulham and Brentford may try to recruit Wilson in a cut-price deal when the transfer window opens.

Why are Brentford and Fulham looking to acquire a new striker?
Brentford manager Thomas Frank will look to sign a new striker following Ivan Toney’s exit during the summer transfer window. Toney was in the final year of his contract and was eventually allowed to finalize a £40 million transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli.

The England international’s exit, combined with injuries to Igor Thiago and Yoane Wissa, leaves Frank with little options in the final third. Meanwhile, Fulham’s main centre-forward options are Rodrigo Muniz and Raul Jimenez, with Carlos Vinicius seen as a third-choice

Vinicius was extensively linked with a move during the last summer transfer season, and if he does leave in the January market, Fulham may seek to strengthen their front department.
