The River Wandle burst its banks on Sunday night.
causing major damage and submerging AFC Wimbledon’s Plough Lane stadium.
The team had been slated to host Newcastle in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
but the match will now be played at the Premier League side’s home field
of St James’s Park on Tuesday, October 1.

James Woodroof, the managing director of the team, informed BBC Radio London that
More than 100,000 liters had been evacuated from the stadium.
“When I awoke, my stadium team’s visuals were there. “I assumed it was artificial intelligence,
or AI,” he remarked.
The concourse and ground floor of the stadium were completely submerged in water.
It was appalling. There is serious damage to the pitch.
“We filled four tankers, holding over 100,000 liters each, with 27,000 liters each.”
