Shock news;Rangers injury latest for Aberdeen as two fresh absentees confirmed

Rangers take on Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership this evening with a chance to go top of the division.

Three points against Neil Warnock’s Dons will push Celtic to the summit on goal difference before they face Hibernian tomorrow evening in Edinburgh.

However, Philippe Clement argues that the focus is exclusively on his team,

and that a game-by-game approach will deflect their attention away from any discussion of the title race.

Rangers have suffered two further setbacks in terms of injuries.

Clement confirmed this during his pre-match press conference on Monday,

adding that he will still be missing Ben Davies, Kemar Roofe, Danilo, and Kieran Dowell.

However, the Belgian had this to say about Davies and Roofe,

which are excellent developments: “Ben Davies is near.

He has already trained with the team,

but he is not ready to be selected.

And Kemar Roofe is improving, but he isn’t yet training with the group.

Ryan Jack
The two fresh Rangers injury bulletins in question are for Ryan Jack and Leon Balogun.

Jack started against Livingston, his first Premiership game since the trip to Livi in December,

but was substituted after 61 minutes.

The 31-year-old was not wounded again. Instead,

Clement is leaving him out of tonight’s game due to his injury history,

and he wants to manage his involvement carefully.

The manager informed the media,

“I can already tell you guys that Ryan Jack will not be in the selection tomorrow because he is coming off an injury,

he has a history of injuries, and there is only a short recovery time between the two games.”

“So I’m not going to risk him right now,

and we’ll work with our medical staff and performance staff over the next few weeks

and months to make him stronger so he can break out of this cycle of injuries. “That is long-term planning.”

Balogun sustained what seemed to be a facial fracture just 22 minutes into Saturday’s game,

and John Souttar replaced him at the heart of the Rangers defence.

The Nigerian will now consult a specialist, and that was all Clement could say about the 35-year-old’s condition.

He said, “Leon, I don’t know yet.

He’s meeting with the surgeon this afternoon (Monday) to discuss the operation

and what is required with the specialist to determine whether or not he requires surgery,

and then we’ll know more. As a result, he will likewise be unavailable for selection.

“He’s seeing a specialist today (Monday),

so he’ll decide on the procedure. “I am not a physician or a specialist.”
