BREAKING NEWS: Everton settle on 1st choice to replace Dyche, did ‘Fantastic’ job at last club – report
Everton have made David Moyes their first choice to take charge at Goodison Park should they sack Sean Dyche, according to HITC.
The online outlet reported on Saturday (21 September) that former Toffees boss Moyes is top of the list of candidates to succeed Dyche.
Dyche is under increasing pressure after losing all four Premier League games this season and exiting the EFL Cup to Southampton.
The report adds that Graham Potter has been another name mentioned, but Everton chiefs have decided on Moyes.
David Moyes will divide opinion among Everton fans
First and foremost, Dyche still has a chance to salvage his job should he pick up a win – or perhaps even a draw – against Leicester City.
Defeat in that one, though, will seriously ramp up the pressure before hosting Crystal Palace in a week’s time – assuming he is still in charge.
It would be silly of Everton chiefs not to already be thinking of a succession plan, and Moyes seems the easy option given his Goodison links.
Moyes has managed Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham (twice) since leaving Merseyside 11 years ago.
While he struggled in the first three of those jobs, he was a big hit at West Ham – even if he never truly won over the entire fanbase.
Winning the Europa Conference League earned him a place in club folklore, though, and he was hailed for his “fantastic” work by Alan Curbishley.
It would be an appointment that divides Everton fans, but the appointment may well be made sooner rather than later.
