The excellent start to the season achieved by Nuno Espirito Santo’s team is largely due to Nottingham Forest’s summer signing activity.

The Reds defeated Liverpool 1-0 last time out and have won their opening four Premier League games. A large number of their summer additions have impressed thus far.
However, the mere fact that the window is closed hasn’t ended the transfer discussion. Here is a summary of some of the most recent stories from Forest.
Lost the chance?

The Reds have a strong history of hiring in South America in the recent past. It was discovered in the summer that they also had another young Brazilian player on their target list.

Riquelme Fillipi, a young player for Palmeiras, was reportedly the subject of a bid, although if a trade could be reached, he would not make the move until January. The 18-year-old, at least if no suitor is willing to pay a large sum of money, doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Globo Esporte, a Brazilian tabloid, claims that Forest made an offer of €6 million (£5 million) for 80% of the player’s rights. According to reports, Palmeiras first approved the agreement but later chose to bind the assailant to new conditions.
According to the source, the teenager will soon agree to a new four-year deal with Palmeiras. There will be a €100m (£84m) release provision in the agreement.

The Reds have Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord on their radar. Furthermore, it appears that things haven’t been easy since he allegedly declined Nuno’s invitation to join his team.

Gimenez is reportedly having trouble finding his form this year. According to one observer, his Dutch club may even be regretting not to trade him to Forest.

Journalist Mikos Gouka stated on Algemeen Dagblad’s football podcast (via Sport Witness) that “if you look at his (Gimenez’s) matches honestly, you don’t see a striker of whom you think: he stayed happily despite the fact that they (Nottingham Forest) wanted to pay €32m.” “You notice a striker and think, if only he had accepted that offer.”

Feyenoord boss Brian Priske reportedly wouldn’t comment on suggestions Gimenez looks like he doesn’t want to be at the club. But he did admit he is working hard to get the Mexican back on top form so he can put the summer behind him.

“It has to do with expectations,” Priske told 1908.nl of the player’s dip in form. “They are high, both in terms of results and the performances of individual players. You hope that the key players perform at their maximum, and Gimenez is such a player. But to achieve that, a lot of things are right. Football is not that simple.
