Report : Newcastle suffer second injury and £20m man ruled out until October – Report
Alexander Isak has an eye problem that first made him doubtful for Saturday’s trip to Fulham,
but it has since surfaced that he has another problem.
The Swedish international is doubtful for this weekend’s match at Craven Cottage due to a toe injury,
according to Craig Hope’s most recent article for The Mail. Callum Wilson (back) won’t play again until October as he needs time to heal from his most recent setback.
Isak had to leave the 2-1 victory over Wolves last Sunday at halftime because of swelling around his eye.
Hope says this is no longer a problem, but Eddie Howe is worried about his availability again because of a toe issue.
However, there is some hope because the narrative suggests that we’ll make a ‘late call’ on the striker and are keeping our fingers crossed that he may be able to manage the pain.
Isak has four goals in his last four games for club and country and would be a huge miss, not just because of his undoubted quality in front of goal but because back-up striker Callum Wilson is also absent.
Will Osula is yet to feature this season – he’s still building his fitness levels and working on his game, much like Lewis Hall last term – so we could see Anthony Gordon in a false 9 role should Isak face a late fitness test.
