awaited loan move from Rangers.

The midfield player is reportedly “close” to joining Cruzeiro, but he won’t sign a deal until after Carnival, according

to a report from a Brazilian website on February 5.

It is understood that he will stay at his home in Ecuador from Friday 9 February with a current delay in the loan

signing due to bureaucratic reasons, awaiting labour documentation.

End of a Rangers nightmare

It appears that Cifuentes’ ordeal at Ibrox is finally coming to an end. When the midfielder signed during the Michael

Beale era, he appeared to be a promising addition.

For a brief period, Rangers appeared to have discovered a hidden jewel in the Colombian. But according to Sky

Sports, the £1.2 million man was injured, and the move to Philippe Clement ended his promising start at Rangers.

That the Belgian is not impressed with Cifuentes is hardly surprising. Since the midfielder has not yet lived up to

Clement’s high standards at Ibrox, a loan move makes sense for all involved.

Moving to Brazil allows the athlete to settle in and accrue valuable playing time, even though the Gers are unlikely to

start him every week. Everyone benefits from it, and it is hoped that Cruzeiro

can restore Cifuentes to his former state.

The 24-year-old is still a very raw talent, and if he can continue to progress throughout the loan period, there’s no

reason he can’t still play at Ibrox. He demonstrated his potential as a player throughout his three years with LAFC in the Major League Soccer.

After the player’s loan stint in South America ends, Clement hopes to see him back at Ibrox.

Regarding the Rangers, Graeme Souness has retaliated against a statement made by Simon Jordan.
