Carlos Corberan, the manager of West Bromwich Albion, deserves a great deal of praise for the team’s near-perfect start to the season.

Football Insider has since disclosed that the 41-year-old does, in fact, have a £2 million release clause at The Hawthorns. This announcement coincides with growing pressure on Leeds United manager Daniel Farke, as Yorkshire club supporters are eager to bring Corberan in should their present manager be fired soon. Corberan managed the Elland Road U21 team from 2017 until 2020 prior to accepting the position at Huddersfield Town.

Leeds finds the £2 million release clause to be quite alluring. A manager of Corberan’s caliber with a release clause as low as £2 million will present Leeds with a very difficult choice in the coming weeks. Despite having a talented team, Farke has found it difficult to keep the Whites up to the standards he set while at Norwich City. In contrast, Corberan has put in far less effort at The Hawthorns than Farke did, and he produced an excellent outcome in his first full season there in 2023–2024.

After losing to Southampton in the play-off final back in May and losing important players like Archie, Leeds had a rough start to the new season.

After demonstrating his ability to operate on a tight budget—something that, while not strictly necessary at Elland Road, could be helpful should Leeds fail to advance—Corberan might be the manager to lead the team in the coming years.

The Yorkshire club may come calling, though, and West Brom may have to fight to convince their boss that he should stay if they have a low release clause.

In England, Corberan has succeeding The Spaniard took a little trip across West Yorkshire to Huddersfield after his former position at Elland Road to take up his first management position in England, and it turned out to be a great fit.

It was a slow burn, as Huddersfield was still getting over a dismal two years prior to the arrival of the current West Brom manager. Despite leading the league by more points than the previous campaign, they finished in 20th place. Still, the 2021–2022 season was fantastic, with players and fans immediately embracing Corberan’s style of play. Under his leadership, the John Smith’s Stadium was transformed into a haven of hope, as the Terriers placed third in the standings, advanced to the play-offs, and finally made it to Wembley. They suffered a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in the championship game under highly contentious circumstances, as the referee disregarded two penalty appeals.
