Why it’s Impossible for Sinner and Alcaraz to Dominate in the Upcoming Years
Pablo Carreno Busta, a Spanish tennis player, says that even if Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz each won two of the four Grand Slams this season, they shouldn’t expect to rule the ATP tour for many years.
Both fans and commentators have hailed Alcaraz and Sinner as the tour’s next big stars, and they are predicted to have an even greater grasp than the Big Three of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.
Carreno Busta thinks that in the upcoming years, rising stars might pose a danger to the young couple.
“Carlos and Sinner are still very young,” Carreno Busta stated in a Puntodebreak.com interview. “They are obviously very good, but we already assume that they will rule like Roger, Rafa, and Novak did for the next 20 years.
“Numerous things can go wrong; it is difficult to sustain the level of success or the degree of demand for as long as it has been done this year with the four grand slams.
It is possible for new individuals to emerge as well; for instance, a very skilled player four years younger than Carlos may show up.
Although it appears that these two will be around for a very long time, I don’t think that these two will be the only participants in the future; others will undoubtedly make things difficult for them.”
A severe elbow injury nearly forced the former World No. 10 to retire, but he overcame it and is now gradually making his way back up the ATP rankings.
“I’m going to fight to get back to where I was, it’s not enough for me to get into the top 100 and play the grand slams again,” said the 33-year-old.
“Considering how I’m changing, even though I would have been content with it five months ago, it’s not enough for me now.
If that’s the best I can do, then great; there have been really trying times, and it would also be enjoyable, but I want to give it everything I’ve got. I believe my current maximum is higher than that.”
