As the debate over Rangers’ striker situation continues, Fabio Silva may have demonstrated to Philippe Clement that he is the right guy for the job.

As the debate over Rangers’ striker situation continues, Fabio Silva may have demonstrated to Philippe Clement that he is the right guy for the job.

Despite a successful transfer window, in which the Portuguese forward arrived on loan from Wolves, there was dissatisfaction that an out-and-out striker did not join Rangers.

Cyriel Dessers is a man who has been vilified, despite his resurgence, with Kemar Roofe (more on him later) being unreliable in terms of fitness and Danilo’s first season in Glasgow ravaged by injury.

Add in a long-term injury to Abdallah Sima, who scored 15 goals in the first half of the season, and Rangers suddenly look woefully short at the top of the pitch.

However, as Fabio Silva scores for Rangers against Livingston, it has helped to alleviate forward pressure, with Philippe Clement potentially finding a £35 million striker to fill the void at Ibrox.

Fabio Silva, Rangers’ striker

Since Silva’s arrival, the Rangers boss has made it plain that the striker can lead the line, and he has put his money where his mouth is.

The 21-year-old Portuguese forward continues to be given opportunities in the forward section of the pitch, and by the end of the game, he appears to be an intelligent, mobile, and potentially potent forward.

In truth, Silva has fell short of goals in his brief, if not overhyped, career thus far, and Rangers will be considered as an outpost for that to alter.

With the Gers expected to dominate games, there will be plenty of opportunities, and when you mix Fabio Silva’s tireless in-game effort and technical abilities, we don’t appear to be that short on choices up front after all.

Wolves Loanee expands options.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has also stated that Kemar Roofe will be healthy sooner rather than later, and while Gers fans should not get ahead of themselves, the striker has a chance to contribute this season.

That would offer Rangers three striker alternatives in Cyriel Dessers, Fabio Silva, and Kemar Roofe, and it’s possible there was a plan all along this January.

Links to Lawrence Shankland linger, but this is more of a summer issue as the Rangers try to establish a campaign this season.

Will the arrivals of Fabio Silva, Mohamed Diomande, and Oscar Cortes be enough to propel the club forward this season?
