Jhon Duran gets a suggestion from Unai Emery following his incredible goal against Everton

After Jhon Duran scored an incredible game-winning goal against Everton,

Unai Emery evaluated the striker’s prospects of starting for Aston Villa.

On Saturday night, Duran deservedly made headlines when he scored a 30-yard rocket to cap off an incredible 3-2 comeback victory at Villa Park.

The 20-year-old’s goal on Saturday was his most spectacular to yet,

but he has been showing glimpses of this kind of talent for a while now. Prior to this, he had already scored two goals in the Premier League as a substitute this season.

There are now demands, if not already,

for Duran to start with Ollie Watkins, but Emery finds it difficult to make that happen.

Although Morgan Rogers has not yet scored this season,

he frequently provides momentum to attempts by operating right behind the striker.

Theoretically, Rogers could shift to the left wing, but it would leave no room for the both the sharp-looking John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey. Observing the tactical conundrum,

Emery has intimated that, should he quietly tweak his system,

Duran would very well shift up top next to Watkins.

“He is gaining confidence in his ability to score goals, and he still had opportunities to score after his goal.

In the press conference following the game,

Emery stated of Duran,

“He has made a good impact in the first three games,

scoring goals and helping the team.”

Watkins also scored two goals today, and that was excellent.

We need to be confident in our ability to play with one or both of our strikers and feel at ease with both of them.

We have this challenge, Emery acknowledged.

The head coach of Villa was keen to emphasize that Duran’s rise has been a gradual one over a number of years rather than an abrupt one.

“Duran shot and struck the crossbar [against Manchester City] on the road last season.”

He scored here against Liverpool and against Ajax outside the box. We are providing him with the confidence to shoot.

“He can score from there because he has the ability to, even though he might not score.

He could take advantage of us.

The summer was vague and a touch off.

We made the decision to stay here, and he agreed, so we refocused his process.

Emery continued, “I am pleased with him and have faith in his abilities.
