HUGE news | Rangers to open talks over club-record signing, striker BIGGEST-EVER offer revealed
Even if Fabio Silva arrives on a permanent basis, Rangers will prioritize adding a new striker this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gers have made it their “number one priority” to sign “two top forwards” for the upcoming campaign,
according to well-placed sources who spoke with Football Insider.
Whether they can make it into the Champions League, which is predicted to add £20 million to their transfer budget,
will determine how much money they have available for the summer.
Football Insider (March 9) has learned from sources that plans are underway to extend Silva’s loan from Wolves permanently in the off-season, subject to Champions League qualifying.
For the next campaign, Rangers want two “top” strikers.
After an outstanding first five months in command,
Rangers manager Philippe Clement is keen to bolster his team, and the team will be active during the summer transfer window.
Rangers will need to negotiate a price if they wish to sign Silva long-term because his transfer from Wolves did not come with a buyout option.
Rangers have identified three positions that they hope to improve for the upcoming campaign: left defender, central midfielder,
and striker. This information was first reported by Football Insider on March 13.
Striker Kemar Roofe is anticipated to leave the team at the end of the current campaign.
According to sources who spoke with Football Insider on March 10, they have no intention of extending Roofe’s contract, thus he will be free to go elsewhere.
Rangers, who are still atop the league, just defeated Hibernian 2-0 on Sunday (10 March) to advance to the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
On Thursday night, March 14, they will play the second leg of their Europa League last-16 match against Benfica at Ibrox.
