A bad injury update for the Rangers including Ross McCausland, Dujon Sterling, and Abdallah Sima is given by Philippe Clement.
In recent weeks, Clement has dealt with a fair share of ailments.
Rangers will not take any chances with Dujon Sterling this weekend, following through on their last-night strategy with Ross McCausland.
Due to an injury sustained during last weekend’s Scottish Cup victory against Hibs,
Sterling was unable to play in the Europa League matchup against Benfica. McCausland, his replacement, eventually hobbled off as Clement’s injury troubles worsened. The management didn’t want to take a chance on the latter,
who was healthy enough to start on the bench in Europe given that extra time might make the match last up to 120 minutes.
This implies that he might play on Sunday against Dundee, as the manager has stated that he will assess his condition.
Sterling’s chances of playing are reduced, though, as the Gers staff is prepared to give the utility player some time to regain his full fitness before returning to the field.
Abdallah Sima is reportedly making good progress in his rehabilitation, although he hasn’t resumed full team training yet.
Clement stated to the Rangers Review: “Abda is progressing as previously predicted. One small step at a time, he feels so terrific.
He is currently outside but not yet with the team, continuing his rehabilitation.
It is fantastic to see that he is making such good development.
“We’ll see, but Dujon is going to be a really doubtful one near Sunday. We won’t risk losing him for an extended period of time.
Ross McCausland struggled tonight as well, but he was sitting because you have to consider that this game might have lasted 120 minutes.
Rabbi had to play minutes after recovering from an injury, whereas Scott returned from his recovery and played a lot.
In the event that they were unable to play for 120 minutes as a team, I was forced to retain a third player present.
In that sense, rather than being a manager right now, I am more of a mathematician. Ross was sitting out because of this,
but he wasn’t completely well, so we’ll see whether he’s ready for Sunday.
