The Belgian’s job now is to make sure the disappointment of defeat to Benfica

doesn’t impact their Treble dream.

Philippe Clement is adamant that Jack Butland won’t let an English snub to destroy

his prospects of winning more awards with Rangers.

Thursday’s news that he had not been selected for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions

team and the Gers’ Europa League loss to Benfica left the Ibrox No. 1 doubly

disappointed.

Butland, though, doesn’t have time to pout because the Light Blues return to action

on Sunday when the Premiership leaders visit Dundee.

The way his goalie has been playing, which has been crucial to the team’s recent

comeback, has Clement overjoyed.

And the big Belgian anticipates that the goalie will get back to work as he aims to win

the Scottish Cup and league title in addition to building on his victory in the Viaplay

Cup in December.

“I don’t like this talk about ‘him, him, him,'” Clement remarked.

It concerns “us” and all of us collectively. Instead of spending his time by himself,

Jack is working hard to support the team and lend his experience to them.

That is what makes us strong, and we shall demonstrate it over the coming weeks.

After an incredible season in goal for Rangers, Clement was asked if he was surprised

to see the 31-year-old miss out on a recall. He responded, “I’ve said from the

beginning I will never interfere with what another manager needs to do with his

selection because you don’t know all the details.”

“I believe that if Jack isn’t there, it proves that England has a lot of really good

goalkeepers because he was prepared to be there.”

Jack and I had a brief conversation on Thursday afternoon, but it wasn’t really

necessary because he was clearly concentrating on the game.

Even if he keeps putting forth a lot of effort for the Rangers, those are the things that

come with living. Other things may then occur.

The most encouraging development, in my opinion, has been the abundance of

articles published in the past few weeks regarding Jack’s selection for the England

team.

Despite this, I haven’t heard anyone comment that Jack’s selection is an odd move.

With that, I believe he has already proven a great deal. He’ll keep doing that over the

coming weeks.

The Gers were hoping to advance further into a competition that they nearly won in

Seville just two years prior.

But Rafa Silva’s winner in the second half sent the Eagles flying into the round of

eight.

Since Clement’s arrival, the Light Blues lineup has played brilliantly both

domestically and overseas, so the loss was an unusual blow.

The manager has also promised to promptly assemble his team.

As a player, it is challenging, he stated. As you get older, you experience more

amazing and pleasant moments as well as more disappointments and disappointing

ones. I’m starting to speak like an old person now.

That teaches you something. You also pick up faster switching. The task at hand is to

complete it as quickly as possible. I will make sure that someone’s head is up again if

I observe them continuing to bury it.

Clement was left with little options due to a variety of injuries, which hindered his

ambitions. However, he hopes to see players like Ross McCausland and Abdallah

Sima return soon.

“Abda is in the same way as previously diagnosed,” he declared. One small step at a

time, he feels so terrific. He is currently outside but not yet with the team, continuing

his rehabilitation. It is fantastic to see that he is making such good development.

We’ll see, but Dujon Sterling is going to be highly dubious come Sunday.

We won’t risk losing him for an extended period of time.

Ross McCausland struggled as well, but he was benched on Thursday because you

have to consider that this game might have lasted 120 minutes. Rabbi Matondo is

recovering from an ailment but had to play some minutes, and Scott Wright is

returning from an injury and played a lot.
