Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq want to sign Rangers defender.
HITC is aware that James Tavernier, the captain of the Glasgow Rangers, is still being pursued by the Saudi Pro League, which includes Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq.
The 32-year-old has accumulated an amazing 122 goals and 127 assists in all competitions from right-back, solidifying his status as a Rangers icon throughout his time at Ibrox.
James Tavernier has 14 goals and eight assists this season, helping Philippe Clement’s team to the top of the Scottish Premiership standings.
In addition, he scored the game’s lone goal to help Rangers defeat Aberdeen in the December League Cup final.
Steven Gerrard and James Tavernier
According to HITC, Steven Gerrard is still trying to lure Tavernier to Al-Ettifaq. Gerrard attempted to sign Tavernier last summer. We are aware, though, that the PIF-owned teams are also interested.
Under Gerrard’s leadership, Tavernier won his lone Scottish Premiership championship in 2020–21 when they prevented fierce rivals Celtic from winning the ten.
The Englishman is currently aiming to guide The Gers to yet another league triumph, but many Saudi Arabian teams are keeping a close eye on him.
Within the Saudi Pro League, Steven Gerrard
While still in the Rangers dugout in 2021, Gerrard accepted the Premier League offer and chose to accept the Aston Villa position, which ultimately turned out to be disastrous.
After being fired in less than a year, the renowned midfield player followed his path to the Saudi Pro League, which is still expanding.
After taking over as Al-Ettifaq‘s manager in July of last year, he has seen much of his team struggle. Despite a crucial run of three wins in his past four league games, his team is currently sixth in the standings.
