HITC is aware that the Saudi Pro League, which includes Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, is still interested in Glasgow Rangers captain James Tavernier.

During his time at Ibrox, the 32-year-old has established himself as a Rangers legend by playing right-back and contributing 127 assists and 122 goals across all competitions.

James Tavernier leads Philippe Clement’s team in the Scottish Premiership this season with 14 goals and 8 assists.

In December, Rangers defeated Aberdeen in the League Cup final, and he also scored the game’s lone goal.

Steven Gerrard, who tried to recruit Tavernier last summer, is still interested in luring him to Al-Ettifaq, HITC can tell you. We are aware, though, that the PIF-owned teams are interested.

Under Gerrard’s direction, Tavernier captured his lone Scottish Premiership championship in the 2020–21 campaign, preventing bitter rivals Celtic from taking home the championship.

A number of Saudi clubs are showing interest in the Englishman, who is now trying to lead The Gers to another league title.

Gerrard responded to the Premier League’s request in 2021 and took the Aston Villa post while still working in the Rangers dugout, a move that ultimately backfired.

The well-known midfield player was let go after just a year, and his career path eventually led him to the Saudi Pro League.

After taking over as Al-Ettifaq’s manager in July, he has had a difficult season. His side is currently sixth in the standings after he has only managed three victories in his last four league games.
