Chiefs news: KC shows interest in Nebraska defensive back before the draft

The Kansas City Chiefs prioritize building their roster during the month of March, while the fan base focuses mostly on free agency. Meanwhile, the team’s scouting staff is busy traveling in preparation for the first-year player draft, which takes place every spring.

Currently, representatives from the Chiefs front office are traveling the nation to cover several pro days when college prospects participate in personal interviews and athletic drills to demonstrate their potential to an NFL team. On the other hand, the pre-draft process intensifies with early games like the Senior Bowl or Shrine Bowl and begins years ahead of a certain draft.

Omar Brown, a defensive back for Nebraska who hangs out with the Chiefs at the Shrine Bowl this year, is one player who stated he spent some time with the team earlier in the summer.

Brown transferred from Northern Iowa to Nebraska and played for two years. Playing in the Big Ten gave him a better platform to showcase his skill set, and he benefited from the move as he was able to produce quality game footage against more formidable opponents. For his efforts last season, he was earned an Honorable-Mention All-Big Ten selection.

“A number of teams questioned my adaptability. Every team I interviewed with was fantastic. They everything went smoothly. My meetings with the Chiefs, Packers, and Broncos were excellent. “Those three meetings were particularly noteworthy,” Brown stated in a recent interview with The Draft Network.

Brown is regarded as a gritty and tackling safety prospect who can play a variety of positions. With a 6-1, 200-pound build, he plays big and hits hard as well.

Last season, Brown led the Huskers defense with 51 tackles and four pass deflections.
