Just in: Central midfielder set to sign four year contract extension at Celtic
Daniel Kelly is expected to extend his contract with Celtic by four years.
Celtic and Daniel the team’s breakthrough midfield player, are getting close to reaching an agreement.
According to Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports, the agreement is almost finalized, and the new agreement will last for four years.
In the recent meeting at Celtic Park against Dundee, the 18-year-old replaced Callum McGregor at halftime after
coming off the bench against Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup in January.
In that game, he scored the club’s first senior goal.
Two Academy graduates targeted for first team status under Brendan Rodgers are Daniel Kelly and Rocco Vata.
Kelly has excelled for both the Celtic U18s and the Celtic B Team. The manager thinks it is critical for Celtic to
nurture its own players in the Celtic tradition, and in order to do so, all levels of the Celtic Academy’s rising stars
need to have access to a route to the first team.
The signing of Daniel Kelly will be fantastic news, enhanced by the completion of the long-awaited agreement with
Rocco Vata. Though Kelly has admirers in Germany and Vata has multiple Italian clubs vying for his signature,
both players are determined to play for Celtic.
Here’s where the practical route becomes relevant. Is there any purpose in developing players if it’s not there?
