£68m needed: Major competition for West Ham as Villa allegedly line up move to
sign 25-yo this summer.
It appears that Aston Villa will be a formidable rival for West Ham United’s signature
of Pedro Goncalves this summer.
Pedro Goncalves has been a revelation for Sporting this year, and it appears that
West Ham and Aston Villa are taking notice of him.
Both Villans manager Unai Emery and Hammers manager David Moyes are eager to
lure him to the Premier League this summer, according to a report from O Jogo.
In January, there were rumors that we were interested in signing the talented
Portuguese player, but in the end, he decided to stay with Sporting.
West Ham may now make another attempt to sign the 25-year-old, but that might
present a serious issue.
West Ham blow as Aston Villa eye move to sign Pedro Goncalves
Goncalves would be a fantastic addition to West Ham, and his offensive performance
would elevate our team to new heights.
The attacker was sold by Wolves to Famalicao in 2019, and he eventually joined
Sporting a year later.
With the Portuguese powerhouses, he has been an enormous success, recording 73
goals and 48 assists in 168 appearances (Transfermarkt).
That’s quite the return—121 goal involvements since 2020, isn’t it? He has played in
39 games this season and has 15 goals and 14 assists. The attacker with the right foot
can play as a number 10 or on the flank.
According to O Jogo, the 25-year-old’s current deal with Sporting includes a £68
million release clause, and it appears that the Portuguese team is unwilling to sell
him for much less than that sum.
Although I would like having Pedro Goncalves at West Ham due to his extraordinary
talent, it appears that Aston Villa could pose a serious threat to us this summer.
If Moyes is truly interested in the former Wolves player, he needs to move quickly.
