Celtic midfielder nears signing a new long-term contract.
Daniel Kelly, a promising player, may soon be signed by Celtic for a longer stay.
With the midfielder’s contract coming to an end this season, the team has extended its offer in an attempt to retain the emerging talent for the foreseeable future. [Sport Record]
Kelly, who is only eighteen, has already caused a stir.
He managed to get into Brendan Rodgers’ starting lineup and even scored his first goal for the senior squad in a convincing victory over Dundee. His goal was the best of the bunch as the Hoops destroyed the helpless SPFL underdogs with seven goals in a row.
Kelly is accustomed to playing for Celtic’s development levels, having proven himself in the B and Under-18 teams.
His abilities have not gone unnoticed, drawing interest from prestigious teams like RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen as well as a few English clubs. However,
it appears that he is determined to remain in Parkhead.
The team is all in on making sure Kelly is a part of their future plans because they don’t want to lose him to training compensation like so many other young players who have slipped through their fingers.
Seeing his potential, Rodgers is steadily increasing his playing time, raising the possibility that he will eventually be in the starting lineup.
It’s likely that Kelly will return to action on Saturday when the team plays St Johnstone.
