Rangers star spotted at the airport amid final transfer deal
According to Taka Gazete, talks between Borna Barisic and Trabzonspor about leaving Rangers have gone well and have already progressed to the signing step.
According to a report on the Turkish outlet’s website (13 March), the Croatian defender has been invited to the nation to finalize the agreement.
The Super Lig club is thought to be rushing aggressively to finalize additions before the end of the current season,
and talks regarding a deal for Barisic are reportedly going quickly.
The 31-year-old’s Ibrox contract is set to expire at the end of the season,
therefore he has been free to discuss a move to a European team since January.
Borna Barisic ready for Rangers exit following Ridvan Yilmaz’s breakthrough.
If Barisic wants to play in the Turkish Super Lig, there doesn’t appear to be much preventing a deal from being reached.
Trabzonspor appear to be interested in making a bid for him,
as he appears to be the first target in a potential haul of additions before the end of the season,
and a left-back spot in their team is expected to become available.
Philippe Clement expressed his desire to keep the veteran at Ibrox shortly after his arrival [Football Scotland, 3 November],
but no deal has been reached months later.
Since the club was already looking to sign a new guy at the position,
they most likely couldn’t make the numbers work for a second, or possibly third, preferred player.
Ridvan Yilmaz was expected to return to Turkey in January, but while that did not happen,
it appears a Rangers left-back will be moving there after all.
After 230 Rangers appearances, Barisic has put in a shift, however his performances have fluctuated,
and it appears that he will not make many more.
