REPORT: The Miami Dolphins Announce Massive News Regarding their 7x Pro Bowl Defender.
With the ability for free players to now negotiate contracts with other teams, the tampering period started yesterday.
However, until Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time, when free agency officially opens, no agreements may be signed.
Every side needs to adhere to the cap because the contracts are not finalised until Wednesday.
The Miami Dolphins made roster changes, including renegotiating the contract of their star cornerback,
after entering yesterday at about $25.2 million over the cap.
Jalen Ramsey’s deal was reworked by Miami to add a vacant year, free up $19.912 million in cap space,
and convert $13.89 million of his salary and a $11 million roster bonus into a signing bonus.
His base pay decreases to $1.21 million from $14.5 million as a result, and his cap amount for 2024 decreases to $7.9 million from $27.9 million.
Lastly, during the following five years, his $8.835 million signing bonus and $24.89 million restructure bonus will be distributed equally.
Miami complies with the salary cap after making this roster change and others.
During the previous offseason, Miami acquired Jalen Ramsey.
In return for Ramsey, Miami sent Hunter Long and a 2023 third-round pick to Los Angeles.
Ramsey and Miami reached an agreement on a three-year, $55 million restructured contract that includes a $35.5 million guaranteed payment, a $8.835 million signing bonus, and leaves him an unrestricted free agency in 2026.
Ramsey missed the first seven games of the 2023 season after tearing his meniscus during training camp.
Ramsey was his imposing self when he came back.
Despite surrendering 21 receptions on 39 targets for 259 yards, one touchdown, and a 51.1 passer rating, he recorded 22 tackles, three interceptions, and five pass deflections, earning his seventh Pro Bowl selection.
