DONE DEAL: Nottingham Forest ‘agree personal terms’ to sign ‘world-class’ star Douglas Luiz – Fabrizio Romano

Nottingham Forest could go from a hat-trick of signings to a quartet in the coming days, according to reports – with personal terms being agreed for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, as owner Evangelos Marinakis aims to close a deal for the former Aston Villa metronome.

Forest had a slow start to the transfer window, with two signings from Brazilian side Botafogo kickstarting their recruitment process – and although there weren’t any major signings until the end of July in the form of Bologna’s Swiss star Dan Ndoye, that has taken a huge turn for the best in the past few days.

Romano: Douglas Luiz ‘Agrees Personal Terms’ with Nottingham Forest

But despite a rumoured number of incomings, none may be higher profile than Luiz, who has been looking to leave Juve after a horror year in Serie A – and Forest have now agreed personal terms with him to end his Italian nightmare.

The report by GIVEMESPORT transfer correspondent Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter) states that Forest have no agreed personal terms with Luiz as a potential move back to the Midlands edges closer for the ‘world-class’ star.

Forest are about to secure deals for English duo James McAtee and Omari Hutchinson from Manchester City and Ipswich Town respectively in the coming hours, as well as French striker Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes – and Luiz could come in as part of a quartet to really bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad ahead of their upcoming Europa League campaign.

Luiz was exceptional for Villa after signing for them upon their return to the Premier League back in 2019, helping them to go from relegation strugglers to Champions League qualifiers in half a decade, notching a career-best nine goals for the club as they finished fourth in the 2023/24 campaign – but PSR regulations meant that he moved to Italy.

However, just three starts in the league has seen him suffer and Forest are looking to bring him to the east Midlands to restart his career in England. With European experience in abundance, and Brazil caps, he could be the glue that holds the team together with exciting attacking talents such as Ndoye, McAtee, Hutchinson, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Morgan Gibbs-White all itching to show what they can do on the continental scene.
