UEFA confirm if Mikey Moore can make Rangers debut vs Viktoria Plzen as squad list announced

Rangers travel to the Doosan Arena to take on Viktoria Plzen in the second leg of their Champions League qualifying tie on Tuesday.

The Light Blues enter the second leg with a three-goal advantage after a dominant win over the Czech outfit at Ibrox, with a Cyriel Dessers penalty and a brace from Djeidi Gassama putting Gers firmly in the driver’s seat.

Oliver Antman made an impressive debut in the first leg, as the winger caught the eye throughout the match and even managed to get himself an assist.

Mikey Moore, who recently joined on loan from Tottenham, will not follow in Antman’s footsteps and make his debut against Plzen, however, after an announcement from UEFA.

Moore not registered in time to make Rangers debut

Following Rangers’ underwhelming performance against Dundee over the weekend, Russell Martin may have wanted to play Moore against Plzen to shake things up.

This is a luxury that is not set to be afforded to Martin after UEFA posted the official Rangers squad list before their Champions League clash on their website on Monday.

Moore does not feature within the squad as there was prior confusion within the fanbase about whether the freshly turned 18-year-old could potentially feature in the game or not.

When Moore is officially eligible to make his Gers debut, he may not have to wait long until he establishes himself in Martin’s starting XI, if their domestic form does not continue after their disastrous start in the Scottish Premiership.

Moore could find it hard to break into the team

Despite multiple disappointing results already so far this season, Gassama has been the shining light within Martin’s side.

With Antman also getting off to a promising start to life in G51, Moore could find it tricky to establish himself within the team.

Perhaps Martin could deploy Moore or one of the two aforementioned wingers as the number ten to fit all three into the same side.

Either way, Martin certainly has plenty of options, and this should serve him well throughout his first season in charge at Ibrox.
