DONE DEAL: Nottingham Forest close in on offloading player – €4m deal agreed, medicals set.

A lot faster than expected, Nottingham Forest look set to complete the sale of goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, with his move to Palmeiras now just a matter of time.

As we covered earlier, Brazilian outlet iG revealed the São Paulo side had already made enquiries for the 26-year-old, and things have moved quickly since then.

Now, UOL journalist Danilo Lavieri, backed by Globo Esporte, says there is a verbal agreement in place. Palmeiras are expected to pay around €4m plus bonuses, with Carlos Miguel signing a five-year deal.

Journalist André Hernan adds that only the medicals and signature are missing, so the player is expected to fly to Brazil this week.

It’s a bit of a plot twist, given that not long ago he was talking about staying in Europe. That suggests Palmeiras came in with a strong pitch – big wages, guaranteed starts, or maybe both.

Palmeiras have been searching for a Weverton understudy with Marcelo Lomba out of contract in December. With their current goalkeeping duo aged 37 and 38, bringing in a 26-year-old is a refreshing change, and they look ready to seal it.
