Wycombe Wanderers striker leaves to re-join former club

Wycombe Wanderers have confirmed the departure of striker James Berry.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Chairboys from Chesterfield in January for an undisclosed fee, has returned to the Spireites on a season-long loan.

Following his move to Buckinghamshire earlier this year, he has only played three times for the Adams Park side, clocking up just 34 minutes of football.

His appearances came against Peterborough United, Wrexham and Shrewsbury Town respectively between March and April.

Before his Wycombe transfer, Berry had scored 10 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions for Chesterfield and had won promotion in three consecutive seasons between 2022 and 2024.

This includes back-to-back Non League titles with Macclesfield, before winning promotion with Chesterfield just over 12 months ago.

He was part of the Spireites team that secured their place back in the Football League for the first time since 2018, after spending six years in the National League.
