Reports: Two Tottenham midfielders will be allowed to depart if they do not agree to new contracts.
Tottenham Hotspur wrapped up the £55million acquisition of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United on Thursday and, with preparations being made for the 2025/26 campaign that will involve Champions League adventure, chairman Daniel Levy has given the green light to negotiate further big-money deals.
Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White was on course to become the next signing for Spurs with a medical pencilled in on Friday, only for it be put on a standby after the Tricky Trees lodged a formal complaint against the North Londoners’ ‘illegal’ pursuit of the player. Apart from Gibbs-White, Juventus outcast Douglas Luiz is also firmly on Tottenham’s radar.
According to recent reports, Douglas Luiz would ‘love’ to join for the Lilywhites following an unsuccessful first season with Juventus. The Serie A club is preparing a midfield overhaul as they prepare for the 2025/26 season, which includes bringing in the Brazilian player this summer.
Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur could be moved on
Both Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur face uncertain futures at White Hart Lane. The duo were inconsistent last season, and with youngsters like Lucas Bergvall and Pape Matar Sarr performing well, they enjoyed limited game time under former boss Ange Postecoglou.
Now, according to a report from The Times, Tottenham could allow Bissouma and Bentancur to leave this summer if they cannot be tied down to new deals.
Bissouma has been with Spurs since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022, while Bentancur joined the club a year before from Juventus. The Malian international has been hit and miss across three seasons in North London, failing to cement a regular place in midfield. There has been no shortage of suitors, though, with Juventus the latest club to show an interest in the 28-year-old.
