Atletico Madrid reach agreement for star defensive signing
Prior to the Club World Cup in the United States, Atletico Madrid made two acquisitions to
guarantee that the loan periods of Juan Musso and Clement Lenglet would be extended.
Theo Hernandez, a left-back for AC Milan, might be the next most likely addition.
After missing out on European football, the French international is on Milan’s trade block as they
try to get rid of his high contract. The 27-year-old joined rival Real Madrid for €24 million after graduating from Atletico Madrid’s academy. Any pursuit of him is undoubtedly contentious given
that departure and his subsequent jabs at Los Colchoneros.
Atletico Madrid reach agreement on personal terms
Hernandez and Atletico have reportedly come to a personal understanding in principle, according
to Matteo Moretto. He is hoping for a move and is eager to rejoin his first team. Hernandez declined
a move to the Middle East, despite Milan having reached an agreement with Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia.
According to Guillaume Maillard-Pacini, La Reppublica in Italy is stating that Atletico has now
finalised an agreement to acquire Hernandez. The Rossoneri would receive €23 million from Los Rojiblancos in addition to bonuses for Hernandez. According to Diario AS, they had also questioned about Andrea Cambiaso, a left-back for Juventus, but Hernandez seems to be their top pick.
