Charlton Athletic have officially confirmed the signing of Stoke City midfielder Jordan Thompson in a surprise deadline day move.
The 27-year-old Northern Ireland international joins the Addicks on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £450,000. Thompson, who made 89 appearances for the Potters since joining from Blackpool in 2020, will now bolster Charlton’s midfield options ahead of the new League One campaign.
Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, Charlton boss Nathan Jones, a former Stoke manager himself, said:
“Jordan is a player I know well. His energy, technical ability, and Championship experience will bring real quality to our squad. We’re delighted to get this one over the line.”
Stoke City released a short statement thanking Thompson for his service and wishing him well in his next chapter.
The move comes as Charlton look to mount a serious promotion push after narrowly missing out on the play-offs last season.
