Joshua Kimmich Breaks Silence on Bayern Future as Florian Wirtz Snubs Liverpool in Shock Twist
Joshua Kimmich has hinted at the Bayern Munich dressing room disappointment as Liverpool push to beat them to Florian Wirtz’s signature. The Reds are locked into talks with Bayer Leverkusen over the Germany star in a move which would smash their club record.
Arne Slot’s side saw their £109million bid rejected by the Bundesliga side after they tabled the offer on Friday, however there is a determination to reach an agreement over the 22-year-old. The ECHO reported on Monday that both clubs are hoping for a swift resolution to the deal, but no middle ground has been reached at the moment, with negotiations ongoing.
Liverpool emerged as contenders for Wirtz’s signature last month before it became clear that the Premier League champions had stormed to the front of the queue to sign him, beneath the noses of the Bundesliga giants and Manchester City.
While the deal remains in its negotiations phase, Wirtz’s attention turns to international duty with Germany as they take on Portugal in the Nations League playoff semi-final.
Despite the prize at stake in the competition, there is a scramble for a development in the midfielder’s saga, and Bayern Munich’s Kimmich fielded questions on the matter in the build-up to Tuesday’s encounter.
The 30-year-old was forced to admit that he hoped Wirtz would join him in Bavaria.
